Haven't been blogging much cus I was too caught up with school work. Can't anyhow play in lvl3 modules anymore cus there are like 2 projects per mod, coupled with strong pressure to do well.
Also, I was feeling quite depressed last week and last last week so I didn't want to flood my blog with emo stuff over and over again (over internships). But now I'm ok! Even though some of the things didn't go exactly as planned.
ANYW.
I finally got an internship!!!! Hehe. And it's something I want. I'll be doing Group Risk at a local bank! I was very happy when I got it :)
I missed out on an application to the local bank cus they had their application during the CNY period. It was on my mind, but when I logged in to my school's portal to apply, the deadline was over. Subsequently in week 12, the career services in my school posted that they still had openings for Consumer Financial Services and Group Risk, so I applied. At the period I was quite desperate alr, cus it was the week 13 and I had no internship offers yet. I was quite selectively in applying cus I knew I wanted an internship at bank, and nothing else. I started applying to a lot a lot of banks and asset management firms. Also, I was overjoyed when I knew that the Career Services in my school sent in my application to the local bank. My school's Career Services almost always selectively filter students' CV before they send it out to the employers and my CV always didn't get picked.
AFFIRMATIONS.
I decided to start writing "I will be an intern at _____" in a book every day before I go to sleep and I would repeat this sentence a few times in front of the mirror. I did it because I was desperate and XX's blog post about the Secret and how it worked for her came to my mind. A few times I lost faith cus they took awhile to get back to me. Still I persevered and kept believing that they would call me soon. & THEY REALLY DID!!!!! I'm really grateful :)
I went for the interview and the VP who interviewed me was so so so nice! I was pretty nervous but I became more relaxed when she spoke to me a bit in chinese. Even though she was a VP she didn't put on any airs and joked with me during the interview! It went very well, but I was still not sure if I would get it. However, after like 30 mins, while I was still on the train home, the HR called me to say that I was offered the internship! *throws confetti*
So here's the story of how I got my internship! Sidenote: When I went for the interview, I noticed there's a Starbucks at the building which I would be working. Yayyy to Starbucks hahaha.
But seriously I can't imagine that I'll have to search for a job next year, which would most likely be late this year/early next year. Might be more depressed than now. Hope I can 看得开。
After I got my internship, 4 companies called me for interview and I suffered from cognitive dissonance (the only marketing term I can still rmb). 3 of them sounded very lucrative - AXA investments markets, Citi Trust, Citibank Cross Franchise (not working in a bank branch but they rotate you to different departments during the internship). Everyone knows it would sound look nicer on your CV if you did an internship with a foreign bank. But oh well. I'm really grateful alr! And the VP of the dept was so nice :)
Looking forward to my internship, but meanwhile it's back to studies for me!
p/s I would update more frequently after 9th may (my last paper)
